Theatre

I have been in love with theatre since I was six years old. I have been in countless productions since then, both university and professional works. With a BA in Theatre at USC and a semester abroad at the British American Drama Academy in London, I have trained with the best in acting.

I am most passionate about meaningful theatre that pushes the boundaries of what it can be as an art form.

Valley of Light

Produced by Fables and Rumors Productions, directed by Naomi Melville

“I know I can’t undo what’s been done. But I didn’t know I could hurt so much.”

- Willow, Valley of Light

A new musical about a legend at the end of the world. Written and composed by my good friend Naomi Melville, I have been part of this show since its first read-through and was so proud to bring the character of Willow to life for its world premiere.

Willow, or at least, she thinks that’s her name, has lost something. Or someone? Someone. She doesn’t quite remember. Her only clue is a flower. Who gave her this flower? How could she forget such a gift? Did they love each other?

Being able to portray a queer love story on stage as part of an all female and nonbinary cast has been an absolute delight. I can confidently say that this show is one of the most artistically fulfilling shows I have worked on, and I hope to contribute to its continuing and larger success in the future.

USC BA Senior Showcase

Directed by Lexi Jones and Gry Nyström

Show promotional graphic made by Olivia Dopp

After many years of students in USC’s BA Acting Program expressing their desire for a cumulative performance at the end of their studies, Impulse Theatre Company was able to put up a successful showcase for the BAs in 2022. I am proud to have been part of the second year of this BA Senior Showcase, after auditioning and being selected by a team of students and faculty, to showcase what I have learned in my time studying acting at university.

For the showcase, I performed a scene from Fleabag (S2E3), written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Stardust

Created by Alterea Inc, directed by Alex Walter

“Sometimes two people can be perfect for each other in every way except one. And that one thing is enough.”

- Maria Delikanakis, Stardust

A large-scale immersive show, with 22 characters and over 100 audience members each night, Stardust was a feat to rehearse and perform. Put up in the Sassafras Saloon, with an open bar and live music, each audience member was given free rein to explore the vast venue and choose which character’s story they wanted to follow.

Set in the magical Hotel Dion, residents spend each day trapped with their memories almost entirely lost. I played Maria, a Greek immigrant in 1960s America who the audience assists in regaining her memories throughout the night as she relearns that her partner of 9 years, Rose, cheated on her. The audience then must help her choose whether to rebuild her broken relationship or to let it go.

Stardust revealed to me just how empathetic audience members can become within the theatre. I would have to spend every night having an emotional breakdown, and every night an audience member would give me thoughtful advice and a shoulder to cry on. Maria was truly the most grounded character I’ve ever had the pleasure to play.

Dragon Show: The Extended Tail

Created by Spy Brunch LLC, directed by Katelyn Schiller

“No more stalling! You heard that sound of dragon thunder…I have kept our kind safe for all these years, and I will not see us ended tonight!”

- Pointy, Dragon Show

A revival of an immersive musical created by award-winning Los Angeles immersive company Spy Brunch LLC, they took their acclaimed show and added more songs, higher production, and brand-new endings. Because some of their original actors were not able to return for the revival, I was fortunate enough to take on the role of Pointy, a grumpy fairy with a staunch devotion to the dragon who rules their realm. Getting two combine my two favorite forms of theatre, musical and immersive, made this show always an absolute joy to perform in.

Dragon Show was listed in “NoPro’s Best Immersive Experiences of 2022,” and I am forever proud of this show and the wonderful people I worked on it with.

WINNER of the 2022 Encore! Producers’ Award and Nominee for Best Immersive & Games at the Hollywood Fringe Festival

Created by Last Call Theatre, directed by Alexander Walter

Signals

“My mom gave me a boy name because she wanted a boy, and my dad didn’t want me at all!”

- Westley Brown (The Janitor), Signals

“Why are two separate men in love with this janitor?! She has an IQ of 40, what is wrong with you people?”

- Comedy Mask (SCP-035), Signals

The first immersive show I had the pleasure to act in, Signals was performed at Thymele Arts as part of the 2022 Hollywood Fringe Festival. A new piece of theatre set in the SCP universe, a majority of the show was unscripted and based entirely on audience interaction, so every actor had to have sharp and ready improvisational skills. Every show was unique from start to finish.

I played the stalwart Westley Brown, a janitor with “big heart, small brains.” Based on the audience’s choices, sometimes Westley could die mid-way through the show, in which case I would then get to play the Comedy Mask. Comedy Mask is an SCP, aka an anomalous monster of sorts, that would puppet around Westley’s dead corpse as a vessel to cause havoc with. I adored the opportunity to play both a sweetheart and a villain in a single show.

Signals was livestreamed to over 40k people on Tiktok, and both livestreams were uploaded on YouTube with a cumulative 11k views. It was a thrilling experience to watch a character I put so much love and care into creating become adored by such a mass audience, to the point of receiving fanart and having Westley be considered a “fan favorite” by the streamers.

A Mouthful Of Birds

Written by Caryl Churchill, directed by Janisè Sadik

“Give it to me straight, Tommy. What the hell is going on?”

- Female Prison Officer, A Mouthful of Birds

Performed at Teatro Technis in London, A Mouthful Of Birds was my final performance of my semester abroad at the British American Drama Academy. Not a commonly produced play, this show was an ensemble piece filled with dance in which I played multiple different characters. The major roles I played were June, the wife of a man who is in love with a pig; a female prison officer investigating a serial killer priest; and Susy, a woman in an abusive relationship with her best friend.

A Mouthful Of Birds was the most abstract play I have ever been part of, exploring the far too untapped genre of female rage turned to violence.

Into The Woods

Written by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, directed by Alex Walter

“You're so nice. You're not good, you're not bad, You're just nice. I'm not good, I'm not nice, I'm just right.”

- The Witch, Into The Woods

Stephen Sondheim’s best work was produced at USC, and I was lucky enough to be cast as The Witch, a dream role of mine. The outdoor venue made for exciting and out-of-the-box staging, and the community of students working together to make the production a realilty made it all the more rewarding.

Into The Woods inspired me to pursue theatre seriously as a degree in university, as it helped me realize that nothing brings me more joy than inspiring theatre made with passionate people. My first college theatrical production couldn’t have been more memorable.

The Revolutionists

Written by Lauren Gunderson, directed by Kat Cordes

“Well that’s not a way to start a comedy. With an execution? That’s just basic dramatic writing: Don’t start with beheadings. Audiences don’t want plays about terror and death—no—they want…hope.”

- Olympe de Gouges, The Revolutionists

A moving comedy about four badass women who lose their heads during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror, The Revolutionists explores legacy, art, and activism. The messages of intersectional feminism and the importance of storytelling moved me deeply when I first read this play, and what better way to bring these points across than with comedy and then an execution? The show filled the audience with laughter, and the ending left them in tears.

Performing at the ISAS Fine Arts Festival, I had the pleasure of Olympe being the last role I played as a senior in high school before I went off to college. It was the first role where I truly connected with a character, and her fierceness for freedom and equality (which she joins with art and ideas) will always live strong in my heart.
